Grab It! Spank It! Love It!
Started in Mom's basement ... now established on the main floor!
Hello, Hi, and Welcome to Mark McElwain's website, which wouldn't
even exist without the late, great Steven Palomaki. OK. He's
not dead ... but he will be if I don't sell any CDs! His fantastic
guitaring (it's a word!), creative CD layout design, and outstanding
website creation in and of itself is an astounding feat.
We've been on a wild and crazy quest to produce fun and original
music since the early nineties. It wasn't until 2000 that Piggy
Spank Records evolved. It's just fun to say. Once Nothing Rhymes
With Orange was smacked into the juicer, we realized just how
tasty our sun-ripened music is when we collaborate on a project.
"An apple a day" my ass ... McElwain and Palomaki keep more than
a doctor away. Nothing Rhymes With Orange, also produced by Jeffrey
T. Johnson and includes musicians like
Peter Phippen,
Jon Lepsch, and, seriously, the late, great, Patrick L. Farnand II on drums,
spawned a song in the indie film
"Illegal Use Of Joe Zopp"
and has developed a slightly deranged cult following.
We have even higher hopes for The Astounding Feat which also features
talented musicians, the presently great Tommy
(Tutone) Heath,
and a tribute to
Jim Carroll.
I hope you enjoy the record.
Mark
The Astounding Feat
Piggy Spank Records proudly presents The Astounding Feat,
Mark McElwain's epic recording about lifes many trials and
tribulations, its joys and its jubilations. Existence can be
challenging ... but why not enjoy the ride? The tracks contained
on Feat are a musical montage of biting (but humorous) lyrics spread
across a background of raucous riffs and righteous rhythms. As in life itself,
the sounds swell to harmonious highs and then drop down to the deepest depths.
Through it all, Life goes on ... And that is The Astounding Feat!
Nothing Rhymes With Orange
Did you know that, in the English language, not only does nothing rhyme with orange but that nothing
rhymes with silver or purple* either? Nothing Rhymes With Orange,
the 2001 release from Mark McElwain & Piggy Spank Records, also has no match. With 11 newly
recorded tracks, 3 revived tracks from Mark's band Boink, and 3 "live" in-studio
acoustic tracks, this one is packed full of delicious and nutritious alternative rock.
The sounds contained range from the gentleness of Angel, increasing to the pop explosion of
Eyes On You, building to the frightfulness of Terror, and climaxing with the apocalyptic 10 Years From Now.
Anyone who needs their vitamins should give this a shot.
*If you said Purple Nurple, nice try, but nurple isn't an English word. I believe it's Portuguese!
